William A. Knack, 81, of Chicago, died March 8, 2012 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
Mr. Knack grew up in Brookfield, living in the village from 1932 to 1948. He attended St. Paul Lutheran School and was a 1948 graduate of Riverside-Brookfield High School.
He served in the U.S. Army in the 1950s and then began his 50-plus year career as an architect in Chicago, working for a variety of architectural firms.
Mr. Knack is survived by his wife, Ruth E. Knack (nee Eckdish), whom he married in Lakeside, Mich., on Sept. 10, 1971. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Harriet Knack and Adelaide Wallace, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Clarence and Charles Knack.
A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, April 1 from 1:30 p.m. until the time of a memorial service at 3 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, 3845-47 Prairie Ave., Brookfield.
