Emily M. Walenta, 95, of Westchester, and formerly of Brookfield and LaGrange Park, died March 21, 2012 at Westchester Health and Rehab Center.
Ms. Walenta worked for 30 years as an executive secretary for Jewel Foods, retiring in 1979. She was also active at St. Barbara Parish in Brookfield as a volunteer secretary for the parish’s office of pastoral care.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard M. Walenta, on Sept. 6, 1992, and by her son, James (Kate Marshall) Walenta.
Ms. Walenta is survived by her son, Bernie Walenta; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated March 24 at St. Barbara Church in Brookfield, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
