Ralph E. Sewall, 84, a longtime former resident of Brookfield, died May 6, 2012 at the Carillon in Plainfield.
Mr. Sewall served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. After his service in the Armed Forces, Mr. Sewall worked for more than 45 years as a sheet metal worker for the White Way Sign Company in Chicago, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local 73.
He lived in Brookfield from 1952 to 1998 with his wife, Mary Ann (nee Winkler), who preceded her husband in death on Nov. 5, 1999. Mr. Sewall enjoyed playing golf, bowling, traveling creating works of art in stained glass and playing games of chance.
He is survived by his daughters, Marilu Gill and Liz (Dennis) Kwit; his sons, Dave (Mary) Sewall, Dan (Joan) Sewall and Luke (Holly) Sewall; 14 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and his dear friend, Lorraine Ogurek.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 10 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, 3845-47 Prairie Ave. in Brookfield. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 11 at St. Barbara Church, 4008 Prairie Ave. in Brookfield, followed by a private committal at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Memorial donations are appreciated to St. Thomas Hospice, the Disabled American Veterans or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
