Richard Lee Williams, 73, a lifelong resident of Brookfield, died May 30, 2012 at his home.

Mr. Williams grew up in Brookfield, graduating from Congress Park School in 1952 and Lyons Township High School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army from 1962-66. It was in Germany on Nov. 16, 1962 that he married Rosa M. Kessel. After his years in the service, Mr. Williams embarked on a 30-plus year career as a concrete truck driver.

A member of Teamsters Union Local 673, Mr. Williams worked for Prairie Concrete, Ozinga Concrete and Material Services Co., retiring in 2002.

He enjoyed playing 16-inch softball and basketball. He was also a gardener and an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife; his daughter, Anita (Stephen) Toth; his sons, Christopher (Jacqueline) Williams, Walter (Elizabeth) Williams, Thomas (Polly) Williams and Kurt Williams; his grandchildren, Luke, Claire, Grant, Maggie, Dustin, Polena and Ralph; and his sisters, Gayle (Norman) Rullo, Janet (Donald) Barici and Judith Jeffries.

A funeral service was held June 2 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brookfield, followed by interment at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
