The Riverside Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting on Thursday, June 7 at 6:30 p.m. to allow the United States Geological Survey (USGS) to present its findings regarding Des Plaines River hydrology data.

The meeting will be held at P.J. Klemfs restaurant, 8000 Ogden Ave. in Lyons. Representatives of the USGS, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) will be on hand to answer questions.

Riverside demanded the study be done last month after residents on Maplewood Road and village officials caught wind that the Army Corps and IDNR hid data conflicting with the official numbers they presented to the village in September 2011.

The data estimated water levels for the river once the Hofmann Dam is notched. The alternate data suggested that the impact on water levels would be greater than originally believed.

The Corps has maintained that their numbers are valid and that the differences between the two sets of data are not significant.
