With Direct Energy now the chosen electricity supplier for the village of Riverside, are we as residents confident that we will receive prompt restoration service in the instances of power outages?

I remember many recent episodes where the power went out from storms, and power restoration was a big, big issue. Is Direct Energy now responsible for the right-of-way tree trimming and infrastructure maintenance?

If individuals “opt-out” out the Direct Energy contract, will our power lines and maintenance be under the Direct Energy or Com Ed umbrella?

Ed. note: While Direct Energy will be supplying the electricity to Riverside, ComEd is still delivering it to customers. No matter which company a customer buys the actual electricity from, ComEd is responsible for delivery, maintenance of lines, restoring power after outages, etc. ComEd itself does no longer supplies power to any customer.
