Marcia Worth (nee Jones), 69, of Brookfield, died on July 20, 2012 at LaGrange Memorial Hospital.
Ms. Worth and her husband, William D. Worth, moved to Brookfield in 1968. A neighborhood mainstay, she was known as the “Mayor of Grove Avenue,” who loved flower gardening, reading and watching her grandchildren’s activities.
She worked for 17 years as a systems analyst for the Official Airline Guide in Oak Brook, retiring in 2001.
Ms. Worth is survived by her husband, William D. Worth; her son, William (Amy) Worth Jr.; her daughters, Susan (James) Gainer and Patricia Cascone; her grandchildren, Liam Worth, McKenna Worth, Emma Gainer, Mia Gainer, Macayla Gainer, Laure Cascone and Sydney Cascone; and her brother, Tom (Shirley) Jones, She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Worth, in 2007.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 25 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, 3845-47 Prairie Ave. in Brookfield. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 26 at 10 a.m. at St. Barbara Church, 4008 Prairie Ave. in Brookfield, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
