The Brookfield Beautification Commission sponsored its 5th Annual Home and Garden Contest this summer, with 27 entries nominated by neighbors, family and friends. In July judges viewed and evaluated the gardens, which had to be visible from the street.

Placing first and earning a $100 gift certificate from Brennan Massage and Spa was Rosie Gonzalez of 4135 DuBois Blvd.

In second place, which came with a $50 gift certificate from Route 66 Aquaponics was Scott Trevor of 3630 Grand Blvd.

The third place winner, who received a $25 gift certificate from For the Birds, was Linda Baca of 3204 Arthur Ave.

Each of the three prize winners received a sign to display in the front yards. The winners were also recognized by Brookfield Village President Michael Garvey at a meeting of the village board in August.
