Dominic Lombardo, 85, a longtime resident of Riverside, died Sept. 7, 2012 in Hinsdale.

Mr. Lombardo was born Feb. 6, 1927 in Chicago to Antonio and Gaetana (nee Colletta) Lombardo. A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Lombardo went on to have a long career in education as a history teacher and counselor at Lane Tech High School in Chicago, retiring after 39 years.

Mr. Lombardo lived in Riverside since 1957, the year he married Rhea Kerr at St. Mary Church. He was also a devoted Chicago White Sox fan.

He was the husband of the late Rhea Lombardo (nee Kerr); the father of Dominic, Christopher (Maria), Martin, John and the late Kathleen; the grandfather of Amanda, Michael, Nicholas and Annamarie; the brother of Katherine Havari, Pauline Palazzola, the late Sam Lombardo and the late Nathalie Guagenti; and the uncle of many.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 10 at St. Mary Church in Riverside, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
