Neal Fischer, a North Riverside native, is director of the play Once Upon a Romcom: The Bill Pullman Story at the Gorilla Tango Theater, 1919 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago every Wednesday at 7 p.m. through Oct. 31.
For the past four years, Fischer has written and directed more than a dozen children’s shows as drama director of South Loop Elementary School and has worked in the past with Gorilla Tango Theater.
Once Upon a Romcom: The Bill Pullman Story was written by Brian Work. It imagines 1990s romantic comedy regular Bill Pullman in a funk because he fells he’ll never find true love. Snapping him out of it is his fairy godfather, Jeff Goldblum.
Fischer is also a filmmaker, having produced the documentary 10 Mountains 10 Years. He’s in pre-production on a feature film titled Blood Kin.
A 2003 graduate of Riverside-Brookfield High School, Fischer attended Komarek School in North Riverside.
