John Izaguirre, a resident of Riverside and English teacher at Riverside-Brookfield High School, was among teachers from 37 states attending a workshop in July at the Mark Twain House and Museum in Hartford, Conn.

The workshop, titled “Huck, Jim and Jim Crow,” centered on the importance and influence of Twain’s 1885 book Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Eleven noted Mark Twain experts and scholars of the Gilded Age presented at the workshop.
