The Wiaduck board (Jack Wiaduck, Tom Shields, John Scully, Candice Grace, Ben Sells, Jean Sussman and Kevin Smith) had the foresight to buy the two old frame houses on East Burlington Street with the plan to build a parking lot and the Gorman board with the prodding of Scully, Sells, Sussman agreed to allow Village Manager Peter Scalera to seek green grants.

And, lo and behold, the grants came and the current board agreed to accept the grants and add village funds to complete the parking lot.

It only took three and a half years to complete the project, but we now have a new lot that makes the others look worn. Maybe now some new businesses will come to Riverside and fill the vacant store fronts along Burlington. Now it is also time for the Chamber of Commerce to help fill those stores.

Kudos to all who have served on the village boards and to the environmentalist who live here in town that made it all happen. Well done.
