John Edward Fontana, 88, of Plainfield and formerly of Brookfield, died Sept. 16, 2012.
Mr. Fontana was born March 14, 1924 and served in the U.S Army during World War II. He was married for 65 years to his wife, Virginia Fontana (nee Sbragia), who survives her husband.
He was the father of Rick Fontana, Karina Fontana and Joanne (Mark) Domanico; the grandfather of Mark Anthony Domanico, Matthew Domanico and Dema Fontana; the brother of 15 brothers and sisters; and the uncles of many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 22 at St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Romeoville, followed by interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet.
