Lifelong Brookfield resident Sylvia Gross, 94, died Oct. 17, 2012 at her home.

Ms. Gross was raised in Brookfield, graduating from Lincoln School in 1932 and Lyons Township High School in 1936.

She was employed for 22 years as the finance director for the village of LaGrange Park, retiring on Feb. 29, 1984. She was a member of the Government Finance Officers Association, a member of the Brookfield VFW Post #2868 Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Brookfield-LaGrange Park Lions Club. Ms. Gross also enjoyed gardening and playing golf.

Ms. Gross married twice and was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Anton Rajsky, who died in 1957, and Russell Gross, who died in 1989.

She is survived by her sons, Ronald (JoAnn) Rajsky and William (Linda) Rajsky; her daughter, Karen Lauer; her grandchildren, Kimberly Rajsky, Heidi Rajsky, Tracey Powell and Marisa Lauer; her great-grandchildren, Carson Powell and Hudson Powell; and her sister, Irene Falout.

Funeral services have been held. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
