Carol A. Crosby (nee Close), 77, of Brookfield, died Nov. 2, 2012.
Ms. Crosby was born on July 3, 1935, and was involved in village affairs for many years both as a businesswoman and an elected official.
She owned the Bread Board Restaurant in Chicago and Crosby Realty in Brookfield. She also volunteered as a hostess on the Brookfield Welcome Wagon.
Ms. Crosby got her start in local politics as an elected member of the Brookfield Public Library Board of Trustees. She was later elected a village trustee.
She was the wife of the late Patrick C. Crosby; the mother of Patrick Crosby and Michael (Cynthia) Crosby; the grandmother of Jack Crosby and Sarah Crosby; the sister of Kevin (Christine) Close, James (Loretta) Close and the late Jack Close; the aunt of many nieces and nephews; and the longtime companion of Joseph Tamborski.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Nov. 7 from 3 p.m. until the time of a funeral service at 8 p.m. at Hitzeman Funeral Home, 9445 31st St. in Brookfield. Interment is private.
