There will be a three-way race for mayor in North Riverside, after George Georgopoulos, an independent candidate, filed nominating petitions that included about 280 signatures on Dec. 21.
Filing papers for mayor on Dec. 17 were Transparency and Accountability in Politics (TAP) Party candidate Rocco DeSantis and VIP Party member Hubert Hermanek Jr. Both men are presently village trustees.
Also filing papers for trustee on Dec. 21 was independent Richard Alvarez, who is aligned with Georgopoulos.
He’ll be joined on the ballot by VIP Party candidates Vera Wilt, Matthew Decosola and Joe Mengoni and TAP Party candidates Annabelle Downs, Marybelle Mandel and Luigi “Gino” Labellarte.
Running for clerk are TAP’s Peter Culafic and VIP’s Kathy Ranieri.
