While the Lyons Township boys basketball team has performed relatively well in nonconference play this season, notching seven wins in 12 games, winning in the West Suburban (Silver) Conference has been an entirely more difficult proposition.
Conference title contender York, which features Colorado State-bound David Cohn, proved too much to handle on Saturday as the Lions fell 62-43. The setback dropped LT to 1-7 in league play.
Harrison Niego led the Lions with nine points and Christopher O’Reilly finished with six points. Cohn tallied a game-high 17 points, while the Dukes post players Justin Kurash and Frank Toohey dominated inside with 12 points and nine points (10 rebounds), respectively.
LT trailed 28-20 at halftime before the Dukes pulled away in the second half by taking advantage of their size in the paint.
The visiting Lions take on Downers Grove North on Friday at 7:30 pm. LT returns home Saturday for a 6 p.m. tip off against Lincoln Park.
