At Christmas this year my mother was searching high and low for a simple wire tree that she could hang just a few of her favorite “vintage” ornaments on. She doesn’t like to put up an entire tree. In the past she has set up her fireplace mantel with lots of greenery and some Christmas bits and bobbles. This year she didn’t want the greenery, but she wanted a way to put out just a few of her favorite ornaments.
“I want just a simple wire tree, haven’t you seen one?” I hadn’t seen anything she was talking about. Or at least I couldn’t recall.
As I was perusing the shops for Valentine’s Day I stumbled upon this wire vintage looking tree at Nest Vintage Modern. I can’t take credit for the idea of the paper hearts, the tree was set up on display just like the photo I took.
We have plans to fill up each heart with a special message to my mom. Then we’ll give her a Valentine’s Tree instead of flowers this year.
And lucky me, it’s just the right kind of tree for my mom to keep out all year and change with the seasons. Next year, she can display just a few of her favorite ornaments for Christmas. I’m sure she will fill it up with leaves of thanks for Thanksgiving. Maybe we will even have a special easter egg ornament decorating party.
