My wife and I have lived in North Riverside for over 30 years. In all those years, we have been impressed with the honesty and integrity of our village government. The services offered and professionalism of those in charge has always been excellent.
However, recently, I have become greatly disturbed by certain elected village officials who have acted with animosity and utter disrespect for other elected leaders, our community, its residents and, most recently, the vendors of our village.
Having attended the most recent board meetings on Feb. 4, I witnessed young and senior citizens of our community stand up and show their support for our services. However, certain elected officials offer no apology for their negative comments. And, at this point in time, it is quite clear that they feel one is not warranted.
Any elected official who behaves this way cannot call themselves a leader. It must stop. Our residents deserve better.
