Ames School Principal Colleen Lieggi announced to parents on Thursday afternoon that she was resigning effective June 30. The announcement came in the form of an email to Ames School parents.

The text of the email follows:

Dear Ames Parents,

I have submitted my resignation as an employee of Riverside School District 96 effective June 30, 2013. Circumstances require my departure in order to assist my daughters in their recovery process and pursue other professional interests. I believe I leave Ames Elementary School a better place than I found it and will miss the professional relationships that I enjoyed during my 12 years working in District 96. The 12 years I have served as the principal of Ames School have been the most rewarding years during my 21 year career in education. A special thank you to the Ames staff, students and parents for your support through the years. No doubt, I am a better person having known and worked with you. I offer my thanks and best wishes to the Board of Education, Dr. Lamberson, District Leadership Team members and the Ames School students, parents and staff members.

Respectfully,

Colleen Lieggi
Principal-Ames Elementary School
Riverside Public School District 96
