Nicholas P. Kirkines, son of Peter and Connie Kirkines of North Riverside, has received an appointment to the Class of 2017 at the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Nicholas is scheduled to graduate from Riverside Brookfield High School in May of 2013 where he was a member of The Clarion newspaper and played varsity football. The prospective members of the Class of 2017 will report to West Point for the first time on July 1, 2013.

The U.S. Military Academy is a four-year co-educational federal undergraduate liberal arts college located 50 miles north of New York City. Founded in 1802 as America’s first college of engineering, it consistently ranks as one of the top colleges in the nation.
