Riverside-Brookfield boys volleyball

Jack Gibson (career-high 12 kills), Danny Nava (14 assists) and Tim Thor-Larsen (five kills) powered the Bulldogs past host St. Charles East 27-25, 25-19 last week.

RBHS (17-9) also outlasted Fenwick 25-17, 20-25, 25-12 behind Thor-Larsen’s 14 kills and Nava’s 19 assists. Gibson recorded eight kills and Mitch Malloy had seven kills.

Lyons Township boys volleyball

The Lions (18-2, 4-0 West Suburban Silver) edged Glenbard West 25-20, 23-25, 25-20 as Kyle Smuda led the way with 16 kills.

Marko Kostich (seven kills, 15 assists) and Smuda (five kills) also fueled LT’s win against Leyden 25-22, 25-23 in a West Suburban Conference crossover match.

Lyons Township softball

Courtney Petrosius (2-for-3, three RBI) and Becky Ryckman (2-for-3, three runs) sparked the visiting Lions past Stagg 6-5 on Saturday. Katie Dzierwa allowed four earned runs and scattered five hits to notch the victory for LT (13-9).

Riverside-Brookfield badminton

The Bulldogs’ top doubles team of juniors Erica Fong and Izzi Cain finished 2-2 in the playoffs, highlighted by wins over higher-seeded teams Homewood-Flossmoor and Lincoln-Way East at the Downers Grove North sectional.

Junior Anna McGonagill pulled off a notable upset over Homewood-Flossmoor in singles competition.

Riverside-Brookfield girls water polo

The Bulldogs dropped their final two regular-season matches 8-4 to Metea Valley and 13-11 to Marian Catholic. RBHS (13-17) take on Lyons Township High School at the Fenwick sectional on May 8 at 7 p.m.

Riverside-Brookfield boys tennis

The Bulldogs fell to Elmwood Park 5-2 on April 30. No. 2 singles player Peter Pierdinock and the No. 4 doubles team of Robby Filec and Brennan Ciborowski claimed victories.
