As my second term as Brookfield trustee comes to an end, I would like to thank you, the residents, for the honor of serving you as village trustee.
I was able to work on some very important programs for the village during my time on the board. Bringing the special recreation association SEASPAR to the village was an outstanding addition for our residents. This is a recreation association that offers our special-needs residents recreation programming for all ages. Seeing the smiles on these residents faces makes it all the more valued.
Creating the TIF district along Ogden Avenue. With the correct nurturing this will help develop all of our business districts in the village. Hopefully the residents will see the benefits of this district for decades in sales tax and property values. My vision for the village has this being a bustling area that brings visitors from the entire area, and the overflow extends into the train station and Eight Corners areas as well.
Developing and hiring professional staff, our Department of Public Works staff takes pride in the work they do in our village. Our village hall staff does an outstanding job with less people. They make the most out of their abilities and use new technology to help our residents fulfill their needs and answer their concerns. Our public safety staff, police and fire departments, have done and continue to do a good job for the village. Not many villages around us have a full-time fire department.
Our village management staff I want to thank for your willingness to think out of the box for Brookfield. The board often has not seen many of your ideas as right for Brookfield, but I enjoyed working to pursue these issues and enjoyed working with you on them. Keep up the good work and keep knocking on the door of opportunity, it will happen someday.
I bid you adieu and will see you at the board meetings.
