Several local residents were recognized for their many years of volunteer service at Brookfield Zoo during the Chicago Zoological Society’s annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner on April 21.
Brookfield residents honored included Ray Burkhardt (15 years), Karen Rippon (10 years), Harold and Laura Stover (5 years) and Steven Lifka (5 years).
North Riverside residents who were honored included Laurie Janiak and Frank Veselak, who have been volunteers at the zoo for 30 and 25 years, respectively.
