Clare Walsh, a graduate of Riverside-Brookfield High School and a resident of Riverside, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Wooster (Ohio) during commencement exercises in May. While at Wooster, she was a member of the Chemistry Club and a four-year letter winner and an All-American with the varsity swim team. She was also a chemistry major and the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship.

Riverside resident Elvedina Owen earned a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Illinois-Chicago Jane Addams School of Social Work at the May 2013 commencement.

Riverside resident Matthew Regnier graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administrator-management at the Augustana College (Rock Island) commencement ceremonies in May.

Brookfield resident Sheela Turbek won two awards at the annual Honors Day ceremony at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine in May. Turbek, a senior, was awarded the Copeland-Gross Biology Prize and the Philip C. Bradley Spanish Prize.

Riverside resident Christine Brown was named to the 2013 spring semester dean’s list at Beloit (Wis.) College and also graduated from the school with a bachelor’s degree.

Nicole Rocconi, of Riverside, was named to the spring 2013 dean’s list at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., by earning a grade-point average of at least 3.5 on a 4-point scale for the semester.

Riverside resident Ann Conner was named to the 2013 spring semester dean’s list at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles by attaining a GPA of at least 3.5.

Heather Heydorn, a resident of Brookfield and graduate of Lyons Township High School, was named to Illinois College’s 2013 spring semester dean’s list. The sophomore posted a GPA of at least 3.5.

Jessica Zenchak, a senior from Brookfield, was named to the spring 2013 dean’s list at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, for attaining a GPA of at least 3.5 for
the semester.

St. Mary School seventh-grader Safa Slote and eighth-grader Shannon Donnelly were recognized for their science fair projects the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Grater Chicago. The MWRD annually presents awards to select science fair competitors whose projects intersect with the mission of the agency.

Slote’s project was titled “Fueling Good” while Donnelly’s was titled “Keep it Flowing.”
