Riverside Police Officer Brian Greenenwald, a five-year veteran of the force, has completed a two-week training course by the Illinois Department of Transportation to recognize drug-impaired drivers.
The training was funded through a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and is the first step in becoming a drug recognition expert, who can provide expert testimony in court related to any of the seven impairing drug categories. There are fewer than 35 drug recognition experts in Illinois.
