Community Support Services has provided services to the families of the intellectually and developmentally disabled for more than three decades. Now the organization has invested in Brookfield’s downtown area by creating CSS Academy.

The Academy will offer classes not just for the disabled, but to all Brookfield residents. It has reclaimed a distressed downtown property and has turned it into a true community resource.

We look forward to CSS growing its mission and providing even more services for residents of Brookfield and nearby communities.

In the meantime, we also look forward to the plan for reclaiming the Helping Hand Thrift Shop property just next door. The building was gutted by fire in April and remains boarded up.

The property needs either to be returned to its former retail use or repurposed for some other use. Having it stay in its present condition indefinitely will only hinder development elsewhere on the block.
