A 28-year-old Melrose Park man remains in Cook County Jail after he was charged with having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old Brookfield girl for the past two months.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved charging Pablo Lango-Alonso with one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony, which could result in a prison sentence of between three and seven years, if convicted.

Police arrested Lango-Alonso at his residence in Melrose Park on July 31 after they completed an investigation that began on July 25, when a family member contacted police because the 16-year-old was acting strangely and had come home just prior to 4 a.m.

According to the police report, the girl admitted she had been “sexually active” with her boyfriend, Lango-Alonso, for about two months. They would meet, she said, down the street from her Brookfield home in his car.

At a court hearing on Aug. 1, a Cook County judge set Lango-Alonso’s bond at $20,000. He awaits a preliminary hearing at the Maybrook courthouse on Aug. 7.
