Riverside police issued a press release on Wednesday, warning of an attempted child luring in the vicinity of Herrick and North Herbert roads, which reportedly occurred over the weekend.

A 14-year-old Berwyn girl called police about 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 3 and reported she was riding her bicycle eastbound on Herrick Road from Herbert when a white minivan drove up next to her.

The girl described the driver as a white male in his 50s, with curly hair that puffed out near his neck. The man also had thick white eyebrows and a long nose, according to police.

After the van drove up next to the girl, the driver reportedly pointed at her and said, “Come here.” The girl turned around and rode her bike back to her friend’s house, where she called police.

The vehicle was last seen headed east on Herrick Road. Police stated the man never made any physical contact with the girl or got out of his vehicle, which was described as a dirty white minivan with silver hubcaps or rims.

Riverside police contacted neighboring police departments. No other similar reports involving a white minivan have been made recently, according to Riverside police.
