Anton J. Roth, 97, a longtime resident of Riverside, died Sept. 2, 2013.
Mr. Roth served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a communications specialist, reportedly for General George Patton. He was a retired employee of the University of Chicago and former governor of the Brookfield Moose Lodge. He was also an avid card player, fisherman and animal lover.
He was the husband of the late Rose Roth (nee Safranek); the son of the late Anton and the late Albina (nee Hladik) Roth; and the uncle and great friend to many.
Visitation will be on Thursday, Sept. 5 from 10 a.m. until the time of an 11 a.m. service at Ivins/Moravecek Funeral Home, 80 E. Burlington St., Riverside. Interment is at Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park.
