Chef Shangri-La Restaurant, 7930 26th St. in North Riverside, will host its 2nd Annual Fong Music Fest on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 1 to 10 p.m., both inside and outside the restaurant. The event honors the memory of one of the restaurant’s original owners, Paul J. Fong, who died in 2012.
The doors open at noon, and live music — there will be nine acts all together — will begin outside at 1 p.m., starting with Elvis entertainer Michael St. Angle. He’ll be followed by a variety of acts playing exotica, surf, rockabilly, lounge and roots music. The Janes, a go-go dance troupe, will also be on hand dancing to the beats.
There will also be a Polynesian market, where you can purchase tiki carvings, vintage collectibles and more. The restaurant will be open 10 p.m.
There is a cover charge of $5 (free for anyone 20 and under). There will also be a raffle, with all ticket -proceeds going to CatNap from the Heart in LaGrange.
