John J. Kamer, 82, of Brookfield, died Sept. 19, 2013.

Mr. Kamer served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and later went on to a career as an accountant. He worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Chicago from 1964 to 1975 and then spent 21 years as accountant for Fairfax Nursing Home in Berwyn. He was a resident of Brookfield since 1964 and enjoyed reading, especially military history, and following the Chicago Bears.

Mr. Lamich was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria L. Kamer, on Feb. 16, 2012. He is survived by his children, Chris (Carl) Fremgen and Dottie (Glenn) Gottardo; his grandchildren, Nicholas Fremgen, Michael Fremgen, Matthew Gottardo, Lindsey Gottardo, Erin Gottardo and Kelsey Gottardo; and by his cousin, Virginia Tomski.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 24 at St. Barbara Church in Brookfield, followed by interment at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
