John W. “Jack” Harrington, 83, of Palatine and formerly of North Riverside and Westchester, died Oct. 17, 2013.
Mr. Harrington was a firefighter in North Riverside, Riverside and Stickney, a paramedic CPR instructor and a Catholic deacon and chaplain. He also served in prison ministry and Special Religious Development (SPRED) for the Archdiocese of Chicago.
He was the husband of Janet (nee Venturelli); the father of Jack (Ninfa) Harrington, Maureen Harrington, Mark (Rose) Harrington, Jeff (Karen) Fantozzi, Marion (Mark) Knoblich and Steven Harrington; the grandfather of John (Anne), Ninfa (Val), Danielle (Carlos), Steven, Donny, Shannon, Fara, Timothy, Hailey, Dawn, Amy, Laurel, John and Peter; and the great-grandfather of Jack, Charlie, Lia Bee, Brady, Evelyn, Lia Faith and Natalia.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 22 at Mater Christi Church in North Riverside, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
