Donald Lee Myles, 81, of Hendersonville/Etowah, N.C., and formerly of Riverside, died Dec. 15, 2013 after a long illness.
Mr. Myles was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War. He spent his professional life as a decorator of home, painting them like an artist. He also collected trains and created special layouts with them. Christmas was a special time of year for Mr. Myles, who would decorate his home inside and out.
He was the son of the late Thomas Patrick and Grace Heider Myles. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Bob Myles, Bernard Myles and Ivan Myles, and his sister Joan Rine.
Mr. Myles is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia; his sisters, Betty (Leo) Forrest, Mildred Myles and Ellen (Bob) Lemmon; his brothers, Tom (Rosella) Myles and Raymond (Lee) Myles; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 20 at Sacred Heart Church in Brevard, N.C. Military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard for Veterans of Transylvania County.
