Longtime Brookfield resident George S. Diven Jr., 96, died Dec. 22, 2013 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.

Mr. Diven moved to Brookfield in 1960 and worked for more than 25 years as an electrical engineer with RMC Air Conditioning and Heating, retiring in 1971. He enjoyed music, especially playing the piano and organ. He was also a jazz fan who belonged to the Brookfield Jazz Society.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma “Tootie” Diven (nee Frazier), and his sister, Ruth Waters. Mr. Diven is survived by his nephews, George (Betty) Waters, Michael (Kathy) Waters and Paul Waters; his sister-in-law, Bobbie Cucco.

Funeral services have been held. Interment was at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lexington, Mo.
