Robert W. “Bob” Kelly, 77, a resident of Plainfield and former resident of Brookfield, died Dec. 23, 2013 at the Carillon of Plainfield.

Mr. Kelly served in the U.S. Army from 1955-57. In 1961, he joined the Brookfield Fire Department and worked as a firefighter for 27 years, retiring in 1988 at the rank of lieutenant. He lived in Brookfield from 1962 to 2000. He was an avid golfer, who enjoyed woodworking and playing shuffleboard.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria M. Kelly (nee Weselowski); his sons, Michael (Della) Kelly and David (Andrea) Kelly; his daughter, Susan (Jerry) Waters; his grandchildren, Steve “Ted” Kelly, Colleen Kelly, Laura Waters, Elise Waters, Ashley Kelly and Matt Kelly; his sister, Margaret Lyden; and his brothers, William Kelly and Thomas Kelly.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 30 at Andrew the Apostle Church in Romeoville, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice.

Memorial donations are appreciated to the American Cancer Society.
