Lawrence Joseph Silski, 82, of Brookfield, died Jan. 9, 2014 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood after a three-week battle against a pulmonary aneurysm.
Mr. Silski was born Oct. 22, 1931 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Afterwards he worked as a salesman for an oil equipment company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Silski of Chicago and Frances Bednarek of Manistee, Mich.
Mr. Silski was the brother of Isabel Neuert of Wheaton; the husband of Helga Doerfeld and father of Andrew Lawrence Silski and Margaret Isabel Kehrees; the grandfather of Matthew Silski, Rebekah Silski, Daniel Silski, Catherine Silski, Michael Silski, Sarah Silski, Peter Silski, Johanna Isabella Silski, Paul Bradley, Jason Bradley, Brian Bradley, Andrea (James Jr.) Mierop, Andrew Kehrees and Nick Kehrees; and the great-grandfather of Joseph Silski and Jimmy Mierop III.
A funeral service was held Jan. 14 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Westchester, followed by interment with military honors at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
