Hannah Toriumi

From the creative mind of television’s Dick Wolfe comes another program on NBC titled “Chicago PD,” which is a spinoff of the popular program “Chicago Fire.”

Shot in Chicago, the series will also have numerous actors who are from the Chicago area — and Riverside will be able to boast that Hannah Toriumi has a part in an upcoming show.

As of this writing, Hannah said she was not sure when the show she is in (episode five) will air; due to confidentiality she could not talk about her role or the show. We will just have to watch.

But I can tell you about Hannah! A Riverside-Brookfield High School graduate, she continued on to North Central College where she graduated in 2012 with a double major in theater performance and psychology.

While at RBHS she was active in the performing arts and continued doing so in college. She has done some work in the Chicago area, but the speaking role in “Chicago PD” is, as she put it, “My first big gig.”

She said she was nervous when auditioning for the role, but she was pleasantly surprised to get a part so soon in her career.

Hannah says she plans to stay in the Chicago area, since there are so many Chicago-based shows and many opportunities. There are many well-known actors who hail from Chicago and many who are still living in the area that have recurring roles on shows.

However, she not just interested in TV work; she likes performing both in theater and TV and looks forward to working in both. She has also taken classes at Second City and may take more.

As a Riverside girl at heart, Hannah says she enjoys watching shows filmed in Chicago and likes recognizing many of the places where the scenes are shot.

Hannah’s not sure if she’ll appear in additional episode of the “Chicago PD” but hopes “tons of people tune in” to watch and make the show a success.

We do know the ratings will be high for episode five in Riverside.
