After a power failure in the fourth quarter delayed the conclusion of the Nazareth-Wheaton Academy regional final at Timothy Christian (Feb. 20), the Roadrunners ultimately emerged with a 58-41 victory the following night. Tre Cross scored 15 points (including 7-for-7 free throws) and pulled down seven rebounds to lead the Roadrunners, while teammate Julianna Raimondi had nine points. Devinne Love (eight points, nine rebounds), Katelyn Cahill (seven points), Eileen Kennedy (five points) and Sydney Newman (five points) all played for Nazareth (18-12), which claimed its second straight regional championship. Mary Clare Harrington, Abby Shannon and Maggie Harrington also contributed for the victors.

Jamie Netzley netted a team-high 12 points for Wheaton Academy (16-10).

The Roadrunners advance to the Glenbard South Sectional, where Montini awaits in a Feb. 25 (6 p.m.) semifinal matchup. At 6 p.m., before tip off of the sectional title game on Feb. 27, Nazareth seniors Eileen Kennedy and Danielle Bartodziej will compete in the IHSA 3-point shootout.
