Shirley B. Kostka, 59, worked for equestrian foundation

Shirley B. Kostka, 59, of Cynthiana, Ky., and formerly of Brookfield, died March 6, 2014 at St. Elizabeth hospital in Edgewood, Ky.

Ms. Kostka was a longtime resident of Brookfield; her family moved to the village in 1960 and she resided there until 2001. She graduated from Lincoln School in 1968 and from Lyons Township High School in 1972.

For 10 years, she worked as an administrative assistant for the U.S. Equestrian Foundation. She also enjoyed watching movies and listening to music.

Ms. Kostka was the sister of Charles (Catherine) Kostka and Ronald (Cheryl) Kostka and the aunt of Christa, Ontario and Charlie Kostka.

Services have been held. Interment was at Beverly Cemetery in Blue Island.

Johnson Funeral Home, Brookfield, handled arrangements.
