An 18-year-old Brookfield man has been charged with misdemeanor criminal sexual abuse after he allegedly had sex with a 14-year-old girl at her Brookfield apartment on April 7 around 11:30 p.m.
According to police, the 18 year old lived a few blocks from the girl and previously had been prohibited from coming to the girl’s residence after the her mother sought a restraining order against him last year after following a previous complaint.
The girl’s mother called police after she heard what sounded like a rocking, banging noise and the sound of voices coming from her 14-year-old daughter’s bedroom. When the mother went to the bedroom to check, the door was locked.
However, she was able to unlock the door from the outside and went into the bedroom, where she confronted her daughter. The girl’s mother shortly thereafter discovered the man hiding in the bedroom closet, naked. When the mother said she was calling police, the man grabbed his clothes and ran out of the apartment. Police reported recovering his cellphone and a T-shirt with the words “If you see the police warn a brother” printed on it from the girl’s room.
Police went to the 18 year old’s home and talked to his parents, who said they had been asleep and believed their son to be asleep as well. The 18 year old denied leaving the home.
Under questioning April 8, the 18 year old reportedly admitted sneaking out of his home and going to the 14-year-old’s apartment, bringing a condom with him. He said he was able to get back into his home without his parents hearing him after running home in nothing but a pair of basketball shorts and socks.
In addition to criminal sexual abuse, the man was charged with violating an order of protection. He is in Cook County Jail awaiting an April 24 hearing at the Maybrook courthouse. His bond is at $10,000.
