With the hiring last week of two principals and two key administrators, the Riverside District 96 Board of Education may have closed the book on what has been a tumultuous year and a half.

While questions regarding compensation paid to the former superintendent still remain open, the way the district serves students and parents on a day-to-day basis should now be settled.

With that in mind, it’s time to look ahead and grapple with all of the challenges the newly minted administration faces — not the least of which is the implementation of Common Core.

We’re glad to have this period behind the district and look forward to the continued excellence for which D96 schools have been known.
