As of 5:20 p.m., the Barrypoint Road bridge is open to traffic. Police Chief Thomas Weitzel said the type of subsubstance has not been idenitified, but he described it as a white powdery subtance that filled a clear plastic sandwich bag.
When police arrived on the scsne, the bag was obsreved lying in the middle of the roadway on the bridge.
The substance tested negative for cocaine and heroin. Weitzel said the substance is possibly some sort of soap.
“The fire department will submit the substandce to the proper authorities for more testing,” said Weitzel.

Police have shut down traffic across the Barrypoint Road bridge in both directions as emergency personnel investigate a package containing some sort of white powder that was left on the bridge.
Riverside Police Chief Thomas Weitzel said that about 4 p.m. on Monday a public works employee noticed the package, which he described as a bag. The bag, he said, contained some sort of white powder. There is no other information available at this time.
Fire department personnel have been called to the scene.
