Ruth E. Wilczynski, 92, of Westmont and formerly of Brookfield and Oak Park, died July 22, 2014 at Cordia of Westmont.

Ms. Wilczynski served in the U.S. Women’s Army Corps during World War II. She later married Edwin S. Wilczynski and lived in Oak Park from 1968 to 1985, the year she moved to Brookfield. She would live in the village until 2009, when she moved to Westmont.

She worked as a secretary for more than 15 years for the Robert Bosch Corporation, retiring in 1984. Ms. Wilczynski was a member of the St. Barbara Council of Catholic Women, where she was named Woman of the Year in 2005. She also belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1344, in Forest Park and the Royal Arcanum Lodge. She also enjoyed gardening and socializing with friends.

Ms. Wilczynski’s husband, Edwin, preceded her in death in May 2013. She is survived by her children, Bruce (Roni) Wilczynski and Diane (Dr. Robert) Lichtenberg, and her sister, Carol Rizzo.

A funeral Mass was celebrated July 30 at St. Barbara Church in Brookfield, followed by interment at Abraham Lincoln Cemetery in Elwood.
