Charles Taylor

Lisle police charged Brookfield resident Charles V. Taylor, 28, with robbery, aggravated assault and unlawful use of a weapon after he allegedly threatened a former roommate with a machete to force payment of a debt.

According to police, became upset with his former roommate, because the man owned him money. Taylor went to a residence in the 4900 block of Spencer Avenue in Lisle at about 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 6 allegedly threatened the former roommate with the machete and then took a television and a small amount of cash from the victim.

At about 11:30 p.m., Lisle police contacted Brookfield to help them find Taylor, who was believed to be driving to a house in the 3100 block of Vernon Avenue. Brookfield officers were waiting at the house when Taylor drove up in his 1997 Chevy Monte Carlo and took him into custody. He was later handed over to Lisle police.

According to the DuPage County Jail website, Taylor remains behind bars with his bail set at $4,000.

Lisle police stated Taylor lived in Brookfield, but it’s unclear if he lives at the address full time or was just visiting. Brookfield police list his address as being in Montrose, a small rural village near Effingham in southern Illinois.

Taylor does have a relative who lives on Vernon Avenue, according to police.
