Riverside police arrested 19-year-old Miztli Reyes in connection with a burglary at a home on the 100 block of Groveland Ave. in Riverside on Sunday, August 17.
Residents of the home saw someone leave their basement and walk through their backyard at 3:20 a.m. carrying a backpack. Riverside police report that the residents promptly yelled for the person to stay and called 911.
“When first officers arrived, they had the suspect corralled in the rear yard so that police could take him into custody,” said Riverside Police Chief Thomas Weitzel.
Officers discovered alcohol, pocket knives, a portable safe, Xbox games, power tools among the stolen items in the backpack.
Reyes is on bond for his arrest in July for stealing a Riverside Brookfield High School student’s bicycle in front of the school. He was arrested in that incident at his Brookfield home.
