Anna R. Gorlen, 89, a 55-year resident of North Riverside, died on Aug. 23, 2014 at Burgess Square Healthcare and Rehab Centre in Westmont.  She and her late husband of 60 years, Chester, were charter parishioners at Mater Christi Church. Named the Mater Christi Guild’s Women of the Year in 1998, she was honored at the Cardinal’s Luncheon by Cardinal Francis George. She belonged to the village of North Riverside’s In-Between Club and also enjoyed cooking, gardening and her family. 

 Anna Gorlen is survived by her children, Keith (Carol Weisner) Gorlen, Gary (Pam) Gorlen and Mary Ann (Jim) O’Connell; grandchildren, Gregory, Dan and Adrienne Gorlen; siblings, Ludmila “Dolly” McLain, Olive “Lol” Turek, Carole (John) Havel, Larry and John “Junior” (Paula) Klein; and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Augie Klein and Sylvia Goslawski.  

Visitation is on Thursday, Aug. 28 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kuratko-Nosek Funeral Home at 2447 S. DesPlaines Ave. in North Riverside.  Friends and family will meet at this same location on Friday, Aug. 29 at 9:30 a.m. and proceed to Mater Christi Church, 24th Street and 10th Avenue in North Riverside for Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Mater Christi Church, 2431 S. 10th Avenue North Riverside, IL 60546; the Alzheimer’s Association –Greater Illinois Chapter, 8430 W.
