Advance Auto Parts, which chose Brookfield as the home for a new freestanding retail store back in 2013, will officially open its doors to the public on Friday, the company has announced.

The store reportedly will have a soft opening on Thursday.

Advance Auto Parts broke ground on a new 8,000-square-foot store in May at 9310 Ogden Ave. According to Village Manager Keith Sbiral, Advance Auto Parts will host a grand opening event sometime in November.

“Obviously we’re really excited,” said Sbiral, who added that the alley to the north of the property should be completed shortly.

Sbiral said that another national retailer, Sherwin Williams, is close to finalizing plans for a new store at Ogden and Eberly avenues. Sherwin Williams should break ground in November, he said.

Advance Auto Parts announced that Johnny Herrera, who has been with the company for five years, will be the general manager of the Brookfield location. Herrera announced in the press release that as part of the opening of the new store in Brookfield, Advance Auto Parts is donating $1,000 to Building Homes for Heroes, a nonprofit organization that builds or rebuilds homes and gives them to veterans, mortgage-free.
