James H. Dvorak, 90, of Hinsdale and formerly of Riverside, died Oct. 15, 2014.

Mr. Dvorak served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. A 1st lieutenant, Mr. Dvorak was a navigator of a B-24 Liberator bomber in the South Pacific. He flew 32 missions. On his 18th mission, his bomber was shot down. He received numerous citations and medals for his service. In May 2014 he traveled to Washington, D.C. on an Honor Flight for veterans.

He was the former chairman and CEO of Home federal Savings in Chicago and was a member of the Riverside Masonic Lodge and Ceska Beseda.

Mr. Dvorak was the husband of Victoria (nee Vala) and the late Gloria Z.; the father of Dorian (Larry Bodine) Dvorak, Darcy (Hal) Smith, Charles “Chris” (Lynda), Danielle and Dorcas (James Smith) Dvorak; the grandfather of Thomas, James, Kirsten, Derek, Dacia and Xena; the brother of Robert (Donna) Dvorak; and the stepfather of Alden (Karen) Vala.

Services have been held. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park.
