The village of Riverside has announced that the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad grade crossing at Longcommon Road will be closed to vehicle traffic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29.

Work crews will be replacing the wood planks that form the pedestrian walkway areas on either end of the crossing. While village officials are recommending that pedestrians avoid the Longcommon crossing, crossing guards will be on hand in the morning and afternoon to assist school children across the railraod tracks, said Interim Village Manager Jessica Frances.

Detours will be posted. Motorists are asked to allow for more travel time if driving through the village’s downtown area.
